Rose Ronquillo, who is a personal trainer, approached me with the opportunity to create a very unique website. She wanted a design that highlighted her physique while still creating an emphasis on her content that wasn’t invasive or aggressive.
Rose’s website was fun to design because it was my first approach at responsive design elements. We had a great background image of Rose but didn’t want it to disappear by being overlaid with content on smaller screen sizes. So on smaller screen widths the header is taller so her face isn’t covered. Adversely, on wider screen widths the Header is shorter and the content is stretched out to the right of the browser. And while initially you see her face on the screen when you first visit the website, it does fade out when you scroll down the page. It was a very nice and functional effect.
Rose and I are still in the process of perfecting her website. A lot of what we are doing is an experiment in design and functionality. We both have some really good ideas on how we can improve things and create more interaction with her content and visitors.
